Saudi Sectorial Stochastic Dynamic Recursive Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Model

SDCGE has been developed to be used in studying the economic impact of economic policies, projecting key macroeconomic variables and monitoring the Saudi Arabia’s developing plans and Economic Reforms. The model mainly consist of 85 macroeconomic sectors as per the ISIC 4 breakdown of economic sectors (GASTAT breakdown). It is an applied general equilibrium model which currently consists of more than 2000 variables and 1300 equations and identities.

SDCGE Model is used for:

oAnalyzing potential growth in output of the Saudi Economy (Forecasting).

o

oStudying the effects from changes in policy variables (Policy Impact Analysis) affecting the efficiency of a market economy such as tax reforms, import tariffs and trade policy, subsidies, Investment programs, change in Oil Prices, and so on.

o

The Model helps the policy maker to evaluate the costs of pursuing objectives. SDCGE retains partial equilibrium in all its sectors (unlike the Partial Equilibrium Model), which results in making it a General Equilibrium Model covering and maintaining equilibrium in all its sectors rather than just one. It embeds an Input/output Table to capture sectorial connectivity of the Saudi Economy.
